Understand B.Tech Duration
If you take admission after 12th, B.Tech is a 4-year course from 1st year. If you have completed diploma, you can take direct admission in 2nd year through lateral entry, and you do not need to study or give 1st year exams.
Check Diploma Eligibility
Diploma students should complete or appear in the final year of diploma in a suitable engineering branch. Final year appearing students can also fill many university entrance forms, but final result and documents are required during counselling or admission.
Choose Admission Mode
Different universities follow different admission processes. Some conduct their own entrance exam, some take admission through JEE Main, CUET or UPTAC counselling, and some universities also allow direct admission.

If your rank and choice are suitable, you will get seat allotment. After seat allotment, pay the required counselling or seat confirmation fee.
Document Verification
Complete document verification with your diploma marksheets, 10th marksheet, Aadhaar card, caste certificate if applicable, photos, transfer certificate and other required documents.
Complete Final Admission
After document verification, report to the allotted college or university, submit documents, pay college fee and collect admission confirmation.
Start B.Tech from 2nd Year
After lateral entry admission, you directly join B.Tech 2nd year. Attend classes regularly and focus on technical skills, projects, coding, internships and placement preparation.
